Satao [pronounced Sat-OW] was one of the world's largest elephants, a big tusker, whose majestic tusks almost touched the ground. He appeared to realize his tusks put him at risk,  moving in zig zag patterns in the bush when he encountered humans he did not recognize. All his smarts couldn't protect him however.

Satao was killed with a poisoned arrow  in May of 2014, and his tusks were torn off.
He was about 45.
